Northwest College Instructor/Assistant Professor of Biology - Tenure Track in Powell, Wyoming

each Human Anatomy and Physiology (AandPI and AandPII) courses for Pre-Professional, Allied Health, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Optometry, and Biology majors. Teach first and second-year courses in Biology, including Principles of Biology (non-majors), General Biology I (majors), Biological Research (Capstone), and other courses as needed. Deliver courses under various modalities (online, synchronous Zoom, asynchronous Zoom, face-to-face. Provide engaging high-quality instruction incorporating a mix of traditional and active learning spectrum opportunities. Enthusiastically meet the learning needs of rural, first-generation college, and nontraditional students in both transfer (AS and AA) andAAStracks. Develop inclusive and engaging class environments meeting the needs of students of diverse backgrounds. Develop course syllabi for assigned courses and effective varied instruction techniques that promote learning and address student achievement of expected learning outcomes. Recommend appropriate texts and teaching aids which will be of the most value to the teaching-learning process. Contribute to delivery of instruction using distance delivery methods. Assist in the ongoing development and assessment of curriculum. Evaluate efficacy of AandP and General Biology Lab exercises looking for ways to improve student engagement, learning, and retention regarding Biology Program, General Education, and Program Learning Outcomes. Evaluate student performance and achievement of course, program, and all-college student learning outcomes. Academic Advising: Perform academic advising and other related activities including - Advising students and support students in program-related activities and class registration. - Posting and observing office hours for the purposes of academic advising and student consultation. Holding office hours at times that support student success. Meeting with students as needed by appointment. - Advising students regarding career goals and trajectories during and beyond the ongoing registration process Contribute to Biology Program and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Division meetings. Serve on College committees as requested, elected, or assigned. Actively participate in assisting the College in maintaining standards required for accreditation. Contribute to College-wide assessment of student learning outcomes and General Education Outcomes. Contribute to program articulations with public schools and colleges. Personal and professional development to include: - Maintain high level of content knowledge and engage in ongoing professional development in relation to ones field and teaching. - Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines. - Demonstrate mutual respect and civility and coordinate activities to promote the highest level of student learning and productive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members. Assist others on an as-needed basis. Participate in college activities. Perform additional duties as assigned.
