O'Neal Industries, Inc. Quality Technician in Portage, Indiana

Description

Leeco Steel, North America’s leading supplier of carbon, HSLA and alloy steel plate, is seeking a highly- motivated, detail-oriented quality technician for our Portage, IN facility.

Job Summary: Assist the Quality Team in the tasks associated with maintaining the Quality management System and assuring customer specifications and requirements are met.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Interact with sales, warehouse, and inventory personnel regarding quality issues.

  • Perform Quality Control on the interpretation, inspection, and verification of cut parts at the assigned warehouse location(s).

  • When needed, facilitate the training of personnel via classroom, phone, or virtual conferencing.

  • Facilitate all requirements of a Corrective Action Report.

  • Communicate product quality issues to Quality Leadership and suggest modifications to procedures and/or methods where applicable.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate internal and external audits.

  • Receive and process Out of Tolerance Report (OTR) information received from warehouse.

  • Assist with customer and supplier visits when necessary.

  • Maintain calibration on all warehouse measuring tools.

  • Assist in overseeing adherence to procedures and work instructions.

    Required Skills:

  • Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations.

  • Ability to interpret part drawings/blueprints.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.

  • High-level of visual awareness.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience collecting data and drafting reports.

  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong abilities to use and understand measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, rulers, and micrometers.

  • Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

  • Good knowledge of quality standards (ISO, ASTM) and internal procedures.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an inspection or quality technician.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods.

  • Must be willing to travel.
