Sojourner House Psychiatric Registered Nurse Practitioner in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Sojourner House is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric services within our licensed inpatient substance use Sojourner House treatment program and providing emergency support our Sojourner House MOMS housing participants. Programs are located in the East-End of Pittsburgh PA. Duties include assisting a variety of clients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions; overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans including the prescription of appropriate psychotropic medications, monitoring and evaluating the treatment results.  The Psychiatric Certified Registered Nurse works collaboratively with clinical management, therapists, and facility-based Program Managers to take care of the mental, emotional or behavioral disorders for those clients engaged in services.

Requirements:

  • Psychiatric Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Degree including clinical coursework & PA licensure with 2+ years' related mental health experience. Previous experience with medical claim forms.

  • Ability to obtain mental health certification within two years of being hired by a psychiatric outpatient clinic or within two years of the effective date Strong computer/technology skills and aptitude required.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Excellent client engagement and customer relations skills. 

  • Because of treatment philosophy, persons identified or who have been diagnosed with an alcohol or other drug dependence be abstinent for at least two (2) years prior to employment and remain abstinent throughout employment.

  • Support organization’s mission with a sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony.

  • Ability to secure Act 33 and 34 clearances/ Must obtain annual PPD test and first aid/CPR certification.

  • Valid PA driver’s license

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Implement and maintain the agency’s mission, vision, and values in all facets of performance.

  • Administer and implement psychiatric health care services in compliance with agency policies and procedures and all external requirements and best practice standards.

  • Provide direct patient care to clients.

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations including all documentation and appropriate sign off.

  • Performs all medication checks including all documentation and appropriate sign off.

  • Utilize the EHR (Electronic Health Record) for all prescribing and proper documentation.

  • Review of assessments, treatment plans, and reviews/discharges including all documentation.

  • Provide medical consultation to programs/workgroups as necessary

  • As a member of the Treatment Team, serve as member/consultant to client treatment teams as appropriate.

  • Coordinate periodic communication with direct supervisor and the Clinical Director, for input and sharing of relevant information.

  • Provide input in the assessment, evaluation, and development of mental health services and policies.

  • Perform duties independently within the scope and limitations of licensure.

  • Act as primary liaison for designated clients with internal or external psychiatric/physical health care providers.

  • Provide education and training for staff to improve staff skills and functioning with clients.

  • Provide timely, accurate, and professional written and verbal documentation of all psychiatric nursing operations and health services in compliance with agency policies and procedures and all external requirements.

  • Assist in the coordination of and participates in staffing meetings and conferences, as required.

  • Participate in special studies, projects, research, and other activities, as required.

  • Attends all meetings, supervisions and trainings as assigned.

Special Criteria:

  • Because of program treatment philosophy, persons identified with - or who have been diagnosed with - an alcohol or other drug dependence must be abstinent for at least two years prior to employment and remain abstinent throughout employment. All candidates must be willing to adhere to the Substance Abuse/Drug Free Workplace policy including pre-employment screening.

  • Ability to acquire Act 33/34 & FBI clearances (employer reimbursed - after contingent job offer.)

  • Must obtain annual TB (PPD) testing (employer reimbursed - after hire.)

  • Must attend and participate in all required training (after hire.)

Salary:

$80.00/Hourly
