Carnegie Mellon University Pre-Award Manager - OVPR - Office of Sponsored Programs in PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 2021434 Carnegie Mellon University's Office of Sponsored Programs is searching for an OSP Manager to join their team. You will contribute to the department by providing managerial responsibility for functional areas in the Office of Sponsored Programs.

The OSP Pre-award Manager, in conjunction with the Associate Director(s), trains and guides OSP research administrators on proposal and award requirements in accordance with sponsor requirements and applicable University policy, and assists with proposal review and submissions, and award activations. Your core responsibilities will include: Collaborates with faculty, departmental administrators, impacted departments, sponsors, and/or other stakeholders, and shepherds proposals and/or agreements through full lifecycle from concept to completion. Identifies issues for review and approval by various internal compliance partners, and shepherds proposal and/or agreements through the approval process. Maintains knowledge of current regulatory and sponsor requirements, and current trends in sponsored research. Leads the review and assessment of sophisticated legal, sponsor, and other issues. Revises and negotiates proposal documentation and/or agreements to comply with University policies and relevant laws, sponsor requirements, and reduce institutional risk. Leads the review and/or negotiation of complex proposals and/or agreements, and supports and mentors junior staff in junior staff's review and/or negotiation of proposals and/or agreements. Identifies and prepares any necessary documentation, materials or information in support of OSP activities. Manages and supervises a functional unit(s) within the Office of Sponsored Programs. Assists and provides guidance to other functional units within the Office of Sponsored Programs. Acts as the lead representative for a designated constituency team, and monitors and manages the constituency team's assigned workload. Ensures adherence to deadlines and holds team accountable toward fulfillment of goals. Trains and supports junior OSP staff. Creates and presents training programs on topics related to research administration for the University community Uses signature authority as delegated by University. Provides input for the development and/or improvement of OSP procedures/processes. Participates in the selection and hiring of OSP staff. Provides back-up support to colleagues on other OSP teams. Monitors team's communications with stakeholders. Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of OSP mailbox(es). Documents and supervises the award lifecycle through regular communications with stakeholders and updates to appropriate databases. Manages special projects and other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Participates in and represents OSP in University community meetings.
