Accountant Sr - GL & FA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accountant position is responsible for supporting the company’s financial record-keeping and reporting requirements and to ensure compliance with US and other GAAP, corporate policies and procedures, and common ethical practices. This is a hands-on position that requires the individual to be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with effective communication. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills; demonstrated successful organizational and time management skills; problem solving abilities; and international business acumen. This individual completes the tasks necessary to accurately present the financial condition and results of operations of the company. In addition, the individual will have the skills necessary to analyze and provide reports and communications to higher level management about the specific areas of responsibility. Position is based in Penang, Malaysia. There is limited virtual work opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for one or more accounting processes: General Ledger, Accounts Receivable (Scrap Sales), Fixed Assets, Cash Flow Forecast, Interecompany transaction/reconciliation, Flux analysis (Monthly, quarterly and yearly), Consolidation, and etc.

  2. Prepares and records journal entries, account reconciliations (Balance Sheet review).

  3. Month-end close process consistent with corporate policies, GAAP and local statutory requirements.

  4. Prepares AR scrap sales SOA, Cash Flow, Fund Conversion, Fixed Asset Schedule, Fixed Asset Listing, Capex invoice payment block, Capex Payment Listing/Form, and etc.

  5. Reviews system generated transactions for reasonableness and determine any adjustment needed.

  6. Provides record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions.

  7. Prepare Annual Financial Statement to EY (included PPE tie back to AFS)/Audit schedule.

  8. Support Internal/external/SOX audit.

  9. Provide assistance for process improvement.

  10. Analyzes financial statement information and prepares reports/analysis for management.

  11. Ensures compliance with internal controls accounting process.

  12. Communicates with local and foreign subsidiaries to resolve accounting/fixed asset issues.

  13. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.

  14. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multi task and meet deadlines.

  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to perform accounts reconciliation.

  • Action orientated. Results focused. Highly adaptable.

  • Possess an analytical mindset, ability to recognize issues within process while considering functional inter-dependencies, and propose solutions.

  • Proven communications skills with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong team-player with experience working in a dynamic organization and demonstrated ability to build bridges between stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate agility and flexibility to maneuver ad hoc tasks/projects/challenges.

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) at moderate to high-level of proficiency.

  • Fluency in English & Malay.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting related fields.

  • Big 4 or other public accounting experience.

  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP highly desirable.

  • Experience working for a multi-national company.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Master’s degree in accounting of finance.

  • CPA or CPA Candidate.
