Granville Health System Sports Medicine First Responder in Oxford, North Carolina

Position Summary The Sports Medicine First Responder, under the direction of an athletic trainer, will practice within the parameters of the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Licensing Law as laid out by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners, and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. These duties are based on the needs of Granville County and its athletic programs as well as Granville Health System. The sports medicine first responder#s duties, enumerated in this document, should not be considered all-inclusive. The Rehab Clinical Manager in coordination with the High School Athletic Director, as necessary, shall modify duties. The athletic trainer will be present at home athletic contests and practices and shall attend other post-season and home-hosted contests as coordinated by the Rehab Clinical Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Provide 1st aid and injury assessment/treatment for Granville County student-athletes. The first responder will also be responsible communicating with the athletic trainer and making appropriate physician referral. Provide coverage at home events and practices from the beginning of the fall sport season to the conclusion of the spring season. Maintain a line of communication with the athletic trainer and Medical Director regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries. File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents and maintain a daily treatment log. When necessary, oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up to date inventory. Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads or braces. Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school#s coaching staff. Maintain, educate and implement emergency action plans # Qualifications High School diploma Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care. Valid North Carolina Driver#s License Job related experience within middle/high school athletics preferred
