Description of Department: The Oswego College Foundation, Inc. and Oswego Alumni Association, Inc. are searching for an Accounting Associate. Join a highly experienced and energetic three-person team responsible for the finances of the Oswego Alumni Association, Inc. and the nearly $70 million Oswego College Foundation, Inc.

The Oswego Alumni Association for SUNY invites applications for an Accounting Associate. While this position is located on the campus of SUNY Oswego, this is not a New York State position.

Description of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for all daily aspects of cash receipts, cash disbursements and payroll, as well as helping with account reconciliation and annual audit preparation. The position will work closely with our Advancement Services Team as they process donor gift receipts. The Accounting Assistant is the daily contact with the various departments and programs on the SUNY Oswego campus for which the College Foundation holds and manages philanthropic gifts. This individual should be able to problem solve in a deadline-based atmosphere.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in accounting or similar professional experience

  • Experience with not-for-profit general ledger accounting systems or related experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Blackbauds Financial Edge NXT or similar general ledger accounting systems

  • Experience processing payroll

  • Experience processing credit card payments

  • Experience with financial reporting

  • Strong analytical thinking, multi-tasking and time management skills
