Lockheed Martin Rotary Wing Sensors Chief Engineer in Orlando, Florida

Description: This Chief Engineer position will support Rotary Wing Sensor programs, including Apache and Targeting Strike System (TSS) Sensors, within the Sensors & Global Sustainment (S&GS) Line of Business (LOB) and will be responsible for the technical execution of all programs within this area.

The RWS CE will lead a team that has technical and programmatic execution requirements covering a broad range of development efforts, transition of development efforts into existing production programs, rate production of complex sensors, processing electronics, and sustainment efforts tied to fielded sensor systems.

The RWS CE is responsible for meeting all commitments including technical performance, schedule and cost for internal (i.e., IRAD, B&PE, Engineering Overhead, etc.) and external contractual commitments. This position will report to the Precision Strike Sensors Chief Engineer.

Primary duties will be to drive technical excellence and mission success through daily interaction with Rotary Wing program and technical leadership and customers.

Success criteria includes meeting technical, cost and schedule for engineering related tasks and activities. This individual will also be required to communicate technical status and issues internally to program and functional leadership as well as externally to customers.

The position requires leadership skills and demonstration of all the tenets of Full Spectrum Leadership in previous assignments. This position requires effective task organization and communication skills.

Must be able to generate, monitor and execute staffing plans, performance management and be able to tactfully handle a wide variety of employee-related situations. Will interface with established customers and suppliers as well as assess potential new opportunities and technologies for applicability with the business and development strategies. Domestic and International travel (minimal) will be required.

Basic Qualifications:

-B.S. in Engineering or technical field.

-Experience with Fire Control systems, including knowledge of electro-optical (EO) and Radar Frequency (RF) systems, target detection, tracking and targeting. Technical skills should include knowledge of requirements development, system design and test, HWIL’s, guidance, navigation and control, optical materials, modeling and simulation, signal processing, datalinks, fire control, and platform integration.

-Experience or familiarity in dealing with operations and business departments.

-Demonstrated experience, drive, and capability to lead a large team of engineers of varying disciplines and product support personnel to provide technical excellence and mission success.

-Candidate must have a Final Secret clearance with an investigation completed within the last 5 years and the ability to receive program special access clearance.

Desired Skills:

-MS in Engineering or technical field

-Experience with and knowledge of MFC EO Sensor development program capture and execution.

-Experience in all phases of the system development life cycle from concept development to production, fielding and sustainment.

-Experience or familiarity in dealing with Engineering and Technology functions including but not limited to Systems, Software, Configuration Management, Product Development, Product Analysis, Environmental, Test, Reliability, Safety, and Logistics.

-Experience in a rapid development environment or an advanced programs area.

-A thorough understanding of managing the technical efforts for design and development of products to an affordability target.

-Demonstrated ability to generate creative solutions/ideas to work through complex technical and/or leadership challenge. Experience driving a Growth Mindset into the Program culture.

-Experience or familiarity with cost reduction and affordability efforts.

-Experience with LM capture process and the ability to respond with agility to program changes due to competitive nature of programs and pursuits.

-Demonstrated ability to maintain high, above average performance in varying assignments throughout career.

-Experience and initiative to ensure technical support is provided to all areas and the ability to keep abreast of technical issues and ensure the right processes are being exercised to drive timely resolution.

-Experience deploying DX capabilities to Program, developing roadmaps for future adoptions, identifying training needs, and meeting the LOB DX goals.

-Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including experiences in briefing customers and senior leadership.

-Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.

-Excellent customer and company interface background.

-Demonstrated effectiveness in task definition, planning and organization.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
