SUNY Oneonta Residence Hall Director in Oneonta, New York

SUNY Oneonta is seeking creative, innovative Residence Hall Director(s) to join us in providing a supportive, safe, educational, and engaging residence hall experience for students. Reporting to a member of our leadership team, successful candidates will have a passion to help students succeed in pursuing their university education. Strong administrative skills, an interest in working in a high-impact unit of student affairs, and a work philosophy that knows the importance of developing an inclusive community where sense of belonging is nurtured are expectations of staff. This is a 10-month position which starts at the end of July.The Office of Campus Housing and Residence Life is under the Residential Experience and Housing Department, which also houses offices of Move-In, Orientation and Welcome; as well as the Office of Off Campus and Commuter Students. Our office works closely with many other areas of The University through committee work, collaboration, and resource sharing. We have residence hall special interest housing in areas of Wellness, Gaming, Quiet Study, Transfer Living, First Year Experience and LGBTQIA+. To learn more about the University and the Department, please visit https://suny.oneonta.edu/ and https://suny.oneonta.edu/residential-community-life.Duties include but are not limited to:Live and work in the Residence Hall.Supervise, train, and evaluate 8-11 Resident Advisors and additional work study front desk staff.Manage emergency/crisis situations for the residential community while on duty.Teach a section of the Peer Group Communication credit-bearing class.Create, develop, and maintain an inclusive community that is engaging, fosters growth, and helps students reach their desired potential.Enforce policies and processes within the residential community, including acting as a hearing officer.Provide personal support and group advisement to students.Update and maintain collegiate databases.Manage occupancy within the building community.Advice a hall government.Participate in department committee involvement.Function under a flexible work schedule that may include weekend and evening hours.Salary: $41,328 Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits.Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree by time of appointment.Residence life or group living experience.Demonstrated excellence verbal/written communication skills.Educational programming or event management experience.Preferred:Master's degree.Supervisory experience.Crisis and emergency management experience.Experience with Residence Life.Experience community standards hearings (conduct hearings).Experience with facility management.Experience with conflict management.Experience with Maxient and StarRez.Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
