Amerlux Maintenance Mechanic in Oakland, New Jersey
Amerlux, a pioneer in the lighting industry for over 35 years, is seeking Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Oakland, NJ. As a Maintnenace Mechanic, you will be responsible for the day to day repairs as directed by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems (to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical, power, gas, or air required for operations).
Readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Performing preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
Complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Supervisor.
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lock-out-tag-out requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition; adhering to all OSHA and Amerlux requirements.
Work with the Safety Committee to ensure any critical items are addressed immediately.
Other duties as deemed appropriate by Management and the Company.
Skills & Experiences:
Minimum of 3 years working experience in a manufacturing environment as a preventive maintenance person.
Proven ability in recognizing and correcting equipment problems in Hydraulics, Pnematics, Mechanics, Valves, Pumps, Compressors, etc.
Good working knowledge of mechine electrical controls, including PLC's, HMI's, motor drivers, sensors, etc.
Ability to read and comprehend written specifications, procdures, blueprints, drawings, electrical schematics and diagrams to repair equipment or diagnose problem.
Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical problems.
Experience in Mechanical measurement and inspection techniques.
Ability to diagnose problems, repalce or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
Must be able to perform basic plumbing, carpentry, masonry, electrical, machine repair, plant layout, painting, janitorial and general construction skills.
Required to be familiar with and use all hand tools and power tools common to the skills listed.
Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, O.E.M. instructions and specifications
Required to be familiar with and comply with all general safety procedures and OSHA standards, Lock-Out-Tag-Out, HAZMAT, Forklift Safety, PPE requirements, etc.
Comply with regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Be able to effectively work in a team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
