Reporting to the Site Services Superintendent(s), the Senior Water & Waste Management Operator provides operational support for all water and waste management processes to ensure compliance to regulation and adherence to Baffinland’s Environmental Management System. This role is based at our Mary River mine in Nunavut on a 3 week and 3 week out rotation.
Main Accountabilities
Work in collaboration with all other departments to operate water and waste management programs across the site.
to ensure that site water & waste treatment facilities are continuously operated in accordance with standard operating procedures conforming to all regulatory and business requirements.
Conducts field inspections and monitoring of all water and waste facilities, infrastructure, processes and activities.
Notify of any non-conformances and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions.
Assist in the development, review and update of procedures relating to water and waste management.
Liaise with technical services, project engineers, and operations by providing data and support when required.
Participate in design reviews, scope development and execution of projects & improvement initiatives related to water and waste management.
Support the site Operations and Environmental teams by providing data and completing reports.

Main Qualifications
•Minimum five (5) years of experience specific to mining or construction industries
• Arctic experience
• Remote site experience
• Experience with Potable, Effluent & Waste Water Treatment Systems
• Water and Waste Treatment Certification
• Extensive knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, standards and effective industry practices.
• Knowledge of Dam operating, monitoring and surveillance requirements and best practices related to the mining industry.
• Knowledge of TDG / IMDG regulations is an asset
