Posting Summary
Rutgers, The Statue University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for NJMS-PHRI Center. One Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is immediately available for a Ph.D to conduct research in the area of host-pathogen interactions using cell cultures, clinical samples and animal models in Dr. Chang's laboratory.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Examines the role of hormone, innate immunity, and microbiome in viral transmission and pathogenesis in humans and mouse models.
  • Carries out assignments in the laboratory and help manage the laboratory.
  • Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations in a weekly group meeting.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications for the funding of research activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Dr. Chang.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards as they appear in RBHS' Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and RBHS regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • B.S in the field of infectious diseases, immunology, molecular cellular biology.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • The candidate should be familiar with handling infectious agents, ELISA, multi-color FACS analysis, molecular cloning, real-time PCR analysis, and immunofluorescent microscopy.
  • Experience in processing primary cells from blood and tissue as well as handling mice is essential.
  • The applicant should have experience in molecular biology, cell biology, mucosal innate immunity and host-pathogen interaction.
  • The candidate must have excellent communication and writing skills.
