SGI Global, LLC Document Management Analyst II in New York

SGI Global is seeking an Document Management Analyst II to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn, NY . The Document Management Analyst II will work with the Criminal Division. The USAO requires legal services to include direct legal support, clerical/administrative support, automated litigation assistance, and other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Examines, prepares, and processes a variety of technical legal documents which are characteristically voluminous and complex in format. Reviews incoming material and independently determines the need for assembly and preparation of a variety of legal documents.

  • Obtains needed information from appropriate sources and submits drafted legal documents to the appropriate AUSA.

  • Prepares responsive documents with limited instructions from the AUSA. Compiles variable aspects of recurring legal documents in conformance with the rules governing their style and format.

  • Verifies citations and statutory references contained in legal documents using original and online resources. Ensures citations are complete and consistent with source material.

  • Provides organizational support for investigative and trial teams, as well as assists with creation and presentation of evidence, exhibits and documents for trials.

  • Possesses strong communication skills, and is able to maintain regular contact with law enforcement agencies, witnesses, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.

  • Possess ability to be trained on the ability and skills to create summaries of deposition transcripts, creates charts and chronologies for Grand Jury subpoenas, and participate in witness interviews of assigned cases. This skillset may be obtained in post-secondary coursework.

  • Organizes travel arrangements for AUSAs and follows up after trips to ensure necessary receipts and documents are submitted and finalized.

  • Develops tables of contents and indices to briefs in accordance with established formats.

  • Lists cited cases, opinions and miscellaneous references in briefs

  • Composes original letters that do not require legal interpretations, but do require a good working knowledge of legal procedures and specialized terminology, e.g., transmittal of pleadings, requests for extensions of time in specific cases, advising of actions taken or developments in cases referred by other federal departments and agencies, and notices to attorneys representing defendants. Drafting of discovery letters for AUSA review.

  • Produces a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office software applications. Transcribes audio recordings such as wire taps.

  • Ensures proper format, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar.

  • Establishes and maintains a variety of files. Searches legal reference files for information needed by AUSAs. Separates, screens, selects, assembles, and organizes case files and records material for disposition or transfer to records depository in accordance with established procedures

  • Performs docketing duties such as opening, updating, and closing cases through use of the automated case tracking system. Searches database for required information as necessary.

  • Maintains calendar of assigned active cases. Tracks filing and hearing dates. Develops and maintains suspense system for ongoing cases and informs the AUSA of pending dates and deadlines.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree or higher.

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience

  • Experience working with other agencies (law enforcement and federal preferred).

  • U.S. Citizenship.
