The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) seeks a Program Coordinator II to support community engagement efforts. The Program Coordinator is charged with program development, implementation, evaluation and enhancement of community engagement programs.

Reporting to the Director of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center's Community Core, the candidate will work independently and pro-actively towards continued program development, implementation, and enhancement of community engagement programs. The Program Coordinator II will work with project staff and partners to maintain and grow an environment for community-engaged clinical research.

The position is based on-campus at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend hours required. This is a grant-funded position.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational strategies and research efforts.
  • Cultivate relationships across diverse communities, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders and partners in service to programmatic goals.
  • Responsible for supporting the operations of our community advisory boards by providing orientation, ongoing information, materials, and training.
  • Facilitate community meetings to foster relationship building and collaboration.
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment activities, including participating in neighborhood events.
  • Support communication and dissemination efforts.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Job Scope:

  • Provide programmatic and operational support, 60%
  • Conduct community outreach and recruitment, 30%
  • Perform other duties as assigned, 10%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 3 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred in public health, social work, or related field.

  • Demonstrated achievement in project management, organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Pays close attention to detail, a high degree of proficiency with computer software (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, project management tools)
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer programs, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience interacting with all levels of faculty, management, and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and initiatives.

Other Requirements

  • Must be fluent in Spanish, both written and verbal.
