Apicha Community Health Center NUTRITION & OUTREACH EDU. PROJECT COORDINATOR in New York, New York

We are currently seeking a Nutrition & Outreach Education Project Coordinator to work at our 400 Broadway location.

Position Summary: The Nutrition Outreach and Education Project (NOEP) Coordinator conducts outreach (creates, produces and distributes marketing material) to educate low income households in their designated contract service area about the benefits of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The NOEP Coordinator also prescreens households for potential SNAP eligibility, assists low income households with completing the SNAP application process, including gathering supporting documentation, and provides guidance to households with the SNAP recertification process. The NOEP Coordinator works to resolve barriers that may occur at the LDSS or HRA site, and ensures that the household receives the maximum SNAP allotment to which it is entitled, and establishes collaborative relationships throughout their local community and provides comprehensive referrals to other service providers as needed. The NOEP Coordinator at Apicha CHC will oversee staff and interns conducting SNAP applications.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required in field of social sciences, health education, or related field. Advanced degree in Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or equivalent experience preferred; Minimum of one year’s work experience in related field preferred; Familiarity with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is preferred; Excellent written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills; Fluency in one or more A&PI languages or Spanish preferred; Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings, and weekends required; Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in multi-disciplinary environment; Creative, energetic, empathic, and independent team player capable of working within an organizational structure; Ability to use common office software; Well known in the community, with good public speaking skills, and professional demeanor; Ability to use public transportation
