About the Position
Grace Church School is accepting applications for a Human Resources Manager. The ideal candidate will be an experienced human resources generalist who can provide a comprehensive range of HR support to faculty and staff as a department of one. In addition to administering day-to-day operations and payroll processing, the HR Manager will work closely with school leadership to develop policies that attract, support and retain excellent faculty and staff.
Reporting to the Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFO/COO), the Human Resources Manager performs the following duties:
Administer daily human resources operations. Respond to inquiries from the school community including but not limited to: benefits, payroll, employee relations, school policies, time and attendance, employee training and recruitment
Serve as the main administrator of the school’s HRIS. Work closely with dedicated representatives to provide a seamless experience for end users, and provide basic support as needed
Process full-cycle semimonthly payroll for all employees
In collaboration with the Dean of Faculty, manage the employee recruitment and hiring process, including alignment of policies with the school’s strategic goals, mission and values
Facilitate onboarding and offboarding activities of all employees, ensuring a seamless transition both into and out of the organization
Administer leaves of absence for all employees, including but not limited to: FMLA, NY Paid Family Leave, NYS disability and workers’ compensation
Work closely with benefits brokers, partner vendors and the CFO/COO to provide a comprehensive benefits package to school employees at a competitive price. Coordinate annual open enrollment activities
Participate in annual 403(b) audit
Administer employee training, including anti-harassment and mandated reporter requirements. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws
Qualifications
B.A. or higher in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field
A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience
Certification as a Human Resources professional preferred
An ability to build trust, respect, and credibility with senior leaders, trustees, faculty, and staff, serving as a valued colleague and resource
Experience administering an HRIS, including implementation of new systems
Experience administering and processing payroll
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
