The Gottesman Libraries is seeking EdLab Services Associates. Associates will help the Teachers College community become familiar with a range of library/information services, including EdLab-created tools. Candidates should demonstrate an interest supporting teaching and learning with technology and technology-rich environments, and should be able to adapt easily as educational environments evolve. Associates will be part of an ongoing discussion about the future of education and the tools being created at EdLab.

Associates work in all aspects of expanded library operations. The library offers both traditional library services (e.g., reference, circulation, library instruction, course reserves) as well as a host of new activities and functions, including multimedia production, software development, online publishing, curriculum writing, and distance education support. Associates may participate in a range of activities including projects related to their areas of study. We are particularly interested in applicants who want to develop themselves as educators while serving the faculty and students of Teachers College.

The library offers a collegial professional environment, and opportunities to help shape the library learning environment for the campus community.

The library is open Monday-Friday, 11am-11pm; Saturday 8am-8pm; and Sunday 9am-10pm. Associates staff the desk during all open hours.

The EdLab Services Associate position is open to individuals with the following skills:

  • Very good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Experience in customer service and administrative support

  • Familiarity with research methods

  • Attention to detail

  • A commitment to the field of education

  • Fulltime TC employees are not eligible for this position.

  • Must be able to abide by the Student Confidentiality Agreement.

  • Must be able to abide by the Student Privacy Requirements.

  • Able to commit to at least 15 hours per week

  • Has customer service experience

  • Feels comfortable offering assistance to adult learners and researchers

  • Able to promote services and tools in a wide array of social media platforms
