Summary:

NB Alternatives – The Alternatives group is a rapidly growing group within Neuberger Berman with over $64 billion of investor commitments across our private equity fund of funds, secondary investments, co-investment and direct investment areas, including Dyal Capital.

Dyal Capital is an investment management business dedicated to acquiring minority equity stakes in established alternative asset managers (i.e., institutional hedge fund managers with AUM of over $1.5bn to $10bn and private equity firms of $10bn+ commitments under management.). Since December 2011, the team completed thirty investments across four permanent capital vehicles totaling $14 billion AUM. Dyal’s objective is to ultimately partner with 30+ institutional quality alternative asset management firms that have experienced management teams and successful track records.

The Business Services Platform (“BSP”) is the support arm of DYAL. On behalf of DYAL’s alternative asset manager partners, BSPs mandate is to provide strategic reinforcement across Capital Strategy Services (Client Development & Marketing Support, Consultant Coverage) and Advisory Services (Talent Management, Product Development and Best Practices Advisory).

The BSP team is looking to add a senior member to the Advisory Services team focused on Best Practices Advisory. This person will focus on assisting our portfolio companies (Hedge Funds and PE Funds) with guidance, advice operations, systems and technology projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing existing operating models and business processes, challenging the status quo and developing and helping to implement best practices across our portfolio company organizations;

  • Thorough understanding of operational and technology infrastructure challenges and the ability to be consultative across PE, Real Estate, Credit, and Hedge Fund managers;

  • Maintaining a detailed knowledge of front to back office alternative investment operations, technology, and reporting solutions;

  • Staying current in front of emerging trends and investor/regulatory requirements;

  • Identifying and suggesting business process inefficiencies that may be appropriate for automation or outsourcing as well as being knowledgeable about the various solutions and service providers to enable these initiatives;

  • Researching, developing, and articulating innovative yet achievable solutions that promote best practices, create/enhance efficiencies, and/or streamline operations or cost;

  • Thinking critically about the changing regulatory demands across the industry and how those changes may affect our partners;

  • Acting as relationship manager for multiple partners to ensure a high value added and custom experience for each partner;

  • Becoming a trusted advisor to our partners across a range of business management challenges and opportunities.

Requirements:

  • At a minimum, an undergraduate degree with excellent academic credentials; MBA, CFA/CAIA or other advanced degree a plus;

  • Minimum of 7 years of combined experience in Consulting, Business Analysis, Project Management, System Implementations (SDLC), Audit, Accounting or Operations - preferably within the Alternative Investment industry;

  • Working knowledge of leading solutions within the Alternative Investments space such as eFront FrontInvest, SunGard Investran, Yardi, IPREO iLevel, hedge fund portfolio accounting systems, order management systems, reconciliation tools, data warehouse/security master providers, business intelligence tools, and risk management solutions;

  • Solid knowledge of hedge fund and private equity strategies and firms; high degree of intellectual curiosity about the alternatives industry and its business dynamics;

  • Exceptional communication, organization, interpersonal & client-service skills, including the confidence to interact with ‘C level’ client management

  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills with attention to detail;

  • Ability to deliver presentations in a formal environment;

  • Self-starting attitude and entrepreneurial spirit balanced with a commitment to teamwork;

  • Ability to interact with teammates, business partners, and vendors to acquire technical information critical to a project’s requirements and execution;

  • Flexibility for travel.
