About this opportunity:

Plans, implements, and administers the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Program for an assigned region by using a functionalized double-entry accounting package. Provides overall supervision and review of accounting records, ledgers and statements for accuracy and completeness. Maintains, interprets, and ensures the integrity of the chart of accounts, journals, fiscal closing statements, bank accounts, general ledger, asset management and depreciation, etc. for an assigned region. Serves as liaison and technical support between the assigned local units and Divisional Headquarters.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the computerized accounting system with the local finance staff to insure proper internal control is established, to ensure proper accounting principles are followed, and to maintain the reporting system which provides up-to-date and accurate financial information for the Corps Officer and Divisional Headquarters.
  • Assist accounting program for Corps in the region in a manner set out by the Division; provide fundamental guidance to local finance personnel in the daily operation of the accounting system; travels to Corps to assist, provide trouble shooting support as necessary.
  • Provides overall support and review of accounting records, ledgers and statements for accuracy and completeness including but not limited to the preparation of journals, various ledger activity, maintenance, and supervision of accounts, required cash logs, and custodian of all financial reports; ensure the accuracy and completeness of the same.
  • Prepares fiscal closing statements including required reports and statements; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
  • Participates in the preparation of the budget; prepares budget workbook; reviews budget with management and adjustments as requested; prepares final budget copy; enters the approved annual budget for each assigned unit; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
  • Works cooperatively with Divisional Headquarters during the FASB roll-up compilation process including but not limited to entering data, preparation of schedules and worksheets, ensuring the work is carried out consistently with the direction and guidelines provided by Divisional Headquarters.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field,AND
  • four years progressively responsible experience performing double-entry computerized accounting work with accounting experience preferred,OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid Drivers License Required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, but not limited to an office environment due to travel requirements.
