Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
3 years of experience working in student affairs, residential life, education, or a related field.
Valid Driver’s License and ability to provide local and out-of-town transportation for students and ability to obtain chauffeur’s license within one month of hire
Ability to complete a school-provided CPR/AED course as well as basic first aid and medication administration training
Competency with word processing, spreadsheets, and email systems and the ability to quickly learn new systems as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with diverse groups
High level of discretion with sensitive information
Flexibility relative to schedule
Strong organization skills with the ability to work on multiple projects
Ability to prioritize workload under fluctuating conditions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to design complete, and evaluate programs to meet the needs of students served.
Ability to generate ideas, solve problems, and resolve conflicts
Ability to work flexible hours as necessary, including evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
Educational training in education, psychology, or student affairs
Experience working in education, residential life or student affairs
Knowledge of adolescent development, contemporary issues facing adolescents, and characteristics of gifted students
Proficiency with the full suite of Microsoft and Google tools
Prior experience working with teenagers/young adults
Job Concepts
This is a full-time, live-in position that includes a private apartment for the duration of the contract, a meal plan when students are on campus, and all benefits afforded to Louisiana State employees including, the health, life, and retirement plan.
The Assistant Coordinator is required to live in the residence hall and to be on-site for scheduled shifts and on-call overnight responsibilities, except on days off. The contract for this position will run from approximately August 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, with the possibility of contract renewal. This successful applicant will receive ample time off surrounding holidays and extended weekends when residence halls are closed.
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Coordinator of Residential Life (CLR) by:
•
serving as supervisor on-call as needed for staff of the Living/Learning Commons (LLC), and assisting with the selection and training of Residential Life Staff.
•
working with the CLR overseeing the daily operation of the LLC and residential life program, and assuring that student needs are appropriately met.
•
serving as a professional staff member responsible for two individual halls in the LLC.
•
assisting with crisis intervention as necessary.
•
provide local and out-of-town transportation for students
