Overview

Assist project manager and quality assurance manager in the planning, management, customer satisfaction, and

financial success of construction project tasks.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under limited supervision. Receive direction on complex assignments with general guidance on execution. Work is generally reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Make recommendations to management regarding construction and constructability related issues.

  • Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.

Do the Work

  • Oversee or participate in the examination and analysis of construction materials.

  • Initiate and/or accept minor deviation from contract standards and specifications.

  • Inspect work quality and material used in a variety of projects.

  • Inspect storage tanks to ensure compliance with company, local, state and federal regulations. This includes various types of routine tank assessments. Similarly for all other lines of Business when needed or requested.

  • Complete inspection reports and daily logs.

  • Inform customers of job status.

  • Work with crews and service centers to ensure that jobs are completed to meet the company and customer's expectations.

  • Enter reports and update job status in the computer system.

  • Download photographs onto the computer system.

  • Perform various types of inspections and condition assessments.

  • Verify the work of contractors for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.

  • Review and approve monthly pay applications.

  • Review proposed change orders to contracts for scope of work and appropriate pricing; evaluate and make recommendations on proposed changes; participate in negotiating and preparing change orders.

  • Participate in the examination and analysis of construction materials; initiate and/or accept minor deviations from contract standards and specifications.

  • Observe work during progress and upon completion for conformance to plans and specifications; initiate and/or accept minor deviations to standards and specifications.

  • Perform preliminary and final inspections; determine acceptability of construction; work and sign off on project completion; oversee construction project closeout activities.

  • Review construction plans for constructability.

  • Meet with design professionals or contractors to interpret design intent and modifications to plans and specifications; provide technical guidance and interpretation; ensure compliance with State and industry standards, procedures and regulations.

  • Prepare inspection reports as required. Maintain files and reports regarding inspection and plan check activities and findings.

  • Coordinate contractor's construction schedule to ensure proper and prompt material testing.

  • Ensure contractor has installed and maintains proper traffic control throughout the job site.

  • Skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications, and contract documents; skill in applying material testing procedures. Ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection field and office data, reports and systems.

  • Ability to perform required mathematical computations.

  • Working knowledge of math, surveying, construction plans, materials testing and construction materials and techniques as it applies to the work environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.

  • Five or more (5+) years of experience in construction field in civil improvement projects, preferred.

  • Must hold a valid state driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Some indoor professional office environment, which can consist of possible bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

  • Primarily outdoor work environment and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.

  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.

  • Mobility around an office environment.

  • requent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
