Microsoft Corporation Product Management - Xbox Game Development Experiences in Multiple Locations, Costa Rica

The Xbox Game Development Experiences (GDX) team is responsible for defining and delivering industry-leading developer experiences and tools for all game developers worldwide working on PC and Xbox console titles. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated product manager to help define and deliver capabilities that will advance the state of the art for game development across Microsoft’s gaming ecosystem. We believe that investing in our game creator ecosystem, from large AAA studios to small indie shops, is the key to expand the reach and opportunity for Xbox, and are looking for a customer-obsessed individual who is passionate about growing the global community of developers building games for the Xbox series of devices, Windows PCs, and the Cloud, to help us in this mission.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced product manager with a passion for Gaming, Technology, Game Developers, and Developer tools. This candidate is a motivated learner who thrives in an ambiguous environment, experienced at scoping new initiatives, designing innovative solutions, documenting workflows, collaborating with various stakeholders, selling their ideas, and contributing to product strategies and roadmaps. This is a highly visible and impactful role with ample opportunity for growth which requires customer obsession, a drive for results, strong communication skills, and imagination.

Responsibilities

  • Help drive strategic initiatives focused on improving the end-to-end developer experience across the Xbox ecosystem by partnering with business, user research, design, and engineering to contribute to the product strategy and roadmap for your area(s).

  • Closely partner with technical program managers, engineers, and designers to define and deliver product specifications, manage prioritization and trade-offs, and refine requirements for features that combine innovative tooling, services capabilities, and beautifully designed customer experiences that meet product goals.

  • Engage in customer research activities with industry experts and game studio customers, empathize with their history, needs, and priorities to inform product/process innovations.

  • Participate in the creation of programs to embrace all creators and developers, and build processes to support global expansion efforts for teams across Xbox.

  • Manage and contribute to the delivery of high-quality game developer facing artifacts such as technical documentation, white papers, news, announcements, and other technical presentations, including regionally-specific learning resources in partnership with the broader Xbox organization.

  • Work across a large-scale, geographically diverse organization to build alignment with various stakeholders and executives, and deliver desired outcomes for our business and users.

  • Push forward a data-first culture, utilize telemetry and analytics to update your strategy and processes, and model great product management for the rest of the PM team.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Game Design, AND 2+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience or proficient understanding of game development processes (AAA, AA, or indie).

  • Ability to effectively work self-sufficiently in a hybrid, geo-diverse workplace environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with one or more game development middleware/engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal, Godot, GameMaker, etc.)

  • Experience in managing open source projects or other public technical communities.

  • Coding experience in C/C++, C#, or other languages / game scripting tools.

  • Experience working with design teams to produce usable and accessible user experiences (UX).

  • Experience with game studios workflows, including development & publishing pipelines.

  • Experience or proficient understanding of AI/ML, data science, LLMs, Copilots, and related technologies.

  • Strong analytical ability and data driven decision making.
