The Norwich Campus of SUNY Morrisville has been serving the Norwich community and the surrounding areas for more than 46 years, offering students associate degree options such as Criminal Justice, Computer Information Technology, and Nursing. The campus is also used by businesses, not-for-profits and community partners for training, events and videoconferencing.

Brief Description of Duties:

The State University of New York (SUNY) College of Agriculture and Technology at Morrisville seeks a visionary leader who is committed to student success and a mission of access. Reporting to the Provost and spurred by the visionary and transformative renovation of the Donald G. Butcher Library, the Dean of Libraries and Learning Resources will lead SUNY Morrisville's library and oversee several offices under academic resources and support services.

The renovated library is envisioned to become the heart of the campus that not only supports traditional library services and resources, but also serves as the hub for holistic academic support: The Academic Success Center. This one-stop services approach will support the College's mission by offering access to resources, technology, and services that promote student success and persistence. The Academic Success Center will serve as a physical and virtual hub for innovation, collaboration, inquiry, teaching, and engagement.

The Dean of Libraries and Learning Resources oversees the academic support services whose shared focus is the development, implementation, and assessment of innovative academic and co-curricular initiatives, rich learning resources, and services that promote student access, equity, and success.

The Dean of Libraries and Learning Resources is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the library and academic resources. The Dean provides leadership and vision for all library functions, including managing staff, the library's operational budget and facility, and provides administrative oversight and coordination of academic resources for the tutoring center, accessibility services, and distance education and design services.

The Dean works to assure collaboration between academic resources to create a cohesive and student-centered model that strategically aligns with the mission, vision, and goals of SUNY Morrisville. The Dean communicates effectively and provides leadership in the evaluation, assessment, and improvement of processes within the Library and across academic resources to serve students and faculty.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited institution, or an appropriate combination of experience and education.

  • Extensive and significant management experience in academic libraries, integrated learning commons, academic resources, support services, or student success organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience in budget management, faculty and staff management, and asset/facility management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Library and information science or an appropriate combination of experience and education.

  • Experience working in or leading culturally responsive and inclusive operations that center on historically underserved and marginalized communities that support access and student success.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, major change or innovation initiatives, and their assessment.

  • Experience collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, and students in academic support services work areas, and administrators across the college.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to detail, ethics, and a collaborative spirit.
