The Morrisville campus is 30 miles southeast of Syracuse and 30 miles southwest of Utica; it is a half-hour drive from the New York State Thruway with easy access to Albany (two hours), Rochester (two hours), Buffalo (three hours) and New York City (four hours).

The Norwich Campus of SUNY Morrisville has been serving the Norwich community and the surrounding areas for more than 46 years, offering students associate degree options such as Criminal Justice, Computer Information Technology, and Nursing. The campus is also used by businesses, not-for-profits and community partners for training, events and videoconferencing.

The Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), administered by SUNY Morrisville, provides the urban community of Syracuse with innovative academic programs leading to higher education as well as vocational training programs leading to gainful employment and economic self-sufficiency.

Job Description:

SUNY Morrisville seeks candidates for adjunct faculty to teach Composition/Communication for the following area for the Fall 2023/Spring 2024 academic year on the Morrisville campus.

Adjunct pools are open continuously and applicants are contacted/hired year-round for assignments based on college needs. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, on-line, hybrid, weekend, and/or off campus classes

The adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for the following:

  • Teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area division chairs & dean;

  • Helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content;

  • Assessing student learning outcomes;

  • Maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field;

  • Continuing professional development;

  • Utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties;

  • Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position;

  • Fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of an adjunct faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Have a Master's degree or higher in the Composition/Communication or a closely-related area.

  • Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in the Composition/Communication at the college level preferred.
