The University of Minnesota's FM department maintains over 23 million square feet in over 280 buildings across 1200 acres in the Twin Cities. Description of Position This position is a leading team member of the Office of Sustainability, Twin Cities campus. The will direct all reporting for the Office and support projects related to the 2023 Climate Action Plan. Under minimal supervision, the position organizes, analyzes, and reports all campus data related to sustainability. The position is responsible for a variety of influencing tasks including data design, monitoring, analyzing and sharing data related to climate action implementation and other sustainability initiatives. Advanced understanding of the data should help drive strategic campus policies, project development, and process improvements. This position also supports the Director in project management of all Climate Action Plan strategies. The role advises and leads on integrative solutions, project scope, and stakeholder management. Sustainability challenges at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities are advanced and complex. Problem solving requires integrative solutions such as how technologies, processes, resources, and people all fit together. Responsibilities Project Management 60% * Build replicable PM structures and programs for cross-cutting projects that are useful to the team and stakeholders. * Lead cross functional interdepartmental teams to achieve project objectives * Organize and engage champions and key partners of the strategies and tactics across the institutional Climate Action Plan * Support the Director in the launch of the Climate Resilience Plan implementation project management * Support Climate Action Plan mitigation and resilience strategies within the Office of Sustainability oversight (Ex.- Large, off-site renewable energy planning/implementation, UMN carbon offset goal setting/implementation, EV implementation, etc.) Data Management: 25% * Create and manage a database for all key performance indicators of the 2023 Climate Action Plan * Complete the annual greenhouse gas inventory * Continuous data collection for the AASHE Sustainability Tracking and Rating System (STARS) * Advise, develop, implement, and oversee all virtual dashboard/digital data sharing * Lead on all sustainability related departmental data collection and reporting (Ex.- Athletics, Health Sciences, the Libraries, etc.) Analyze & Advise 15% * Utilize data analytics to advise on all sustainability programs, projects, and policies Evaluate/compare greenhouse gas reductions across climate action strategies to advise on implementation Develop reports to aid leadership investment and decommissioning decisions Track diversity and inclusion goals of the Office of Sustainability and advise through data driven systems Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Extensive Knowledge of sustainability concepts and best practices. * Commitment to fostering and advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. * Advanced knowledge of policies, procedures and best practices for project and data management * Self-directed and the ability to make progress toward goals independently. * Ability to create and manage benchmarking processes. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen well and work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. * Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners. * Ability to work effectively on both high-level, strategic issues and tactical deliverables. * Ability to lead effective cross-functional teams and build consensus. * Qualitative and quantitative analysis skills including the ability to collect, interpret and critically analyze information. Qualifications Qualifications Minimum Required: * BA/BS * 6 Years experience in a combination of project and data management Preferred: * Master's Degree in statistics, economics, computer science, business administration, energy management, planning, sustainability, or other related field * Previous completion of annual greenhouse gas inventories, Sustainability Tracking and Assessment Rating System (STARS), and utility data management. * 5+ years working in higher education Work Environment The position is primarily in an office environment. Position will also assist the Office of Sustainability in any outreach events. In-person 60%+ of the time.
