Are you passionate about building innovative systems at the intersection of HPC (high-performance computing), AI and Quantum? Do you want to be part of the next revolution in computing? Microsoft is looking for you! Join our team as we create a new “supercomputing as a service” offering focused on Chemistry and Material Science workloads.

Responsibilities

This role, as part of the Azure Quantum Elements team, will create new Azure services that are designed to cater for demanding HPC workloads (think classical supercomputer scale). These services will blend traditional HPC solutions with AI & Quantum accelerators (both third party and first party hardware). The ideal candidate for this position is agile and able to adapt to changing conditions and priorities as we learn and grow. Such a candidate has excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

  • Develop quantum chemistry solutions combining Quantum, HPC and AI technology

  • Develop workflows to solve computational chemistry problem.

  • Work with customers to understand their problems in the space of computational chemistry

  • Prepare the detailed software specifications and test plans

  • Modify existing programs to new standards and conduct unit testing of developed programs

  • Create migration packages for system testing, user testing, and implementation

  • Provide quality assurance reviews

  • Perform post-implementation validation of software and resolve any bugs found during testing

Qualifications

  • PhD's degree in a technical field such as computational chemistry

  • Solid research experience in computational chemistry required

  • A solid foundation in electronic structures, quantum chemistry, or chemical reactions.

  • Software development experience in quantum chemistry, proficient in at least one language among FORTRAN, C++, Python.

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
