Job Description SummaryManufacturing Supervisor is a leadership position with responsibility for direction and management of the Manufacturing department.   • Commitment to Safety, by following site safety procedures and utilizing safety equipment as required. Ability to document Near Miss reports, safety opportunities, accident reports, etc.

  • Maintains accurate documentation, records and logs in accordance with FDA (Food and Drug Administration), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO9000 (International Organization for Standardization).

  • Ability to lead Manufacturing Work Teams in specific processes.

  • Ability to perform minor troubleshooting and problem solving in areas of set-up of equipment and processes.

  • Ability to work in teams to achieve operational goals while being engaged in the process.

  • Makes effective decisions relative to position requirements and include Quality in those decisions.

  • Communicating issues and concerns to Manager or designee.

  • Some overtime will be required with prior notice to support business needs. Emergency overtime may be required with little notice to ensure operational objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overall manufacturing responsibility in the manufacture of liquid & powder culture media products.

  • Responsible for coordinating the staging of product formulations, weighing and compounding of raw materials (ROHs) within +/- weight tolerances, milling, mixing / blending, packaging, production process control monitoring and GMP documentation for manufacturing powder and liquid culture media and supplements in accordance with Master Batch Records (MBRs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other supporting manufacturing documentation.

  • Responsible for coordinating the work schedule, vacation, absences, and daily tasks for the manufacturing team.

  • Responsible, with department manager, for operating the manufacturing department within approved budget.

  • Provides leadership for the manufacturing associates to achieve departmental safety, quality, schedule adherence, service level, cost objectives and production goals. Leads the Tier 1 meetings for manufacturing as part of the tier accountability and communication process.Facilitates in functional team meetings as required as a manufacturing representative and participates in associate projects as a team member.

  • Assures compliance to appropriate quality and regulatory requirements as specified in procedures. Initiates quality notifications and corrective activities when not in compliance and communicates the issue and resolution in a timely manner to Quality and Operations functions. Responsible, with department manager, for carrying out all internal or external audit recommendations.

  • Ensure current versions of procedures and documents are followed by the manufacturing team. Revises procedures and documents, such as MBRs, SOPs and other manufacturing related documents as needed to reflect current practices.

  • Facilitates training of manufacturing associates in the performance of their job responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, following defined procedures as detailed in the job description, quality documents, safety policies and requirements.

  • Initiates Human Resource related activities for the manufacturing team such as selection, transfer, discharge, performance improvement, development, and disciplinary actions of associates. Works with Human Resources to address associate relations and disputes in a fair, consistent, and timely fashion so as to comply with company Human Resources policies.

  • Recommends, initiates, and/or facilitates measures of Continual Improvement from associates to improve production and equipment performance, product quality, changes in working condition and use of equipment so as to increase efficiency, improve quality and reduce waste. This includes Kaizens, Standardized Work, 5S, Process Simplification, etc.

  • Coordinates weekly manufacturing schedules with Supply Planning to assure timely execution of production orders to maximize operating efficiencies and service levels. Reviews and analyzes production order variances. Works with Operations and Finance to resolve material and direct labor variances from production orders.

  • Provides notification and/or issues work order requests (WORs) for service and repair work in the Manufacturing Areas to maintain safe, clean, and efficient operation.Interacts with maintenance personnel for preventative maintenance and repair of the departmental facilities and equipment.

  • Maintains a working set of standardized work and other continuous improvement documents required to support the manufacture of semi-finished goods (HALBs) and finished goods (FERTs) under plant and quality guidelines.

  • Maintains accurate documentation, records and logs in accordance with FDA (Food and Drug Administration), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO9000 (International Organization for Standardization).

  • Review executed batch records and supporting documentation for manufacturing to ensure complete and compliant.

  • Reviews and approves validation manufacturing control cards, protocols, engineering studies, site studies and other documents requiring Manufacturing functional input and support.

  • Enter and/or coordinate the input of SAP data for production orders with respect to Goods Issued, Labor Confirmation, TECO, etc. in a timely manner.

  • Support the coordination of activities related to calibration, work orders, validation, etc. into the manufacturing schedule.
