This proposal is for a 12-months SOW for Visiting Physicist to perform scientific activities within their on-going Ph.D. program inside and outside the Matter in Extreme Conditions endstation of the Linac Coherent Light Source, at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. At the MEC hutch, the Visiting Physicist will collaborate with the local Laser and Experimental scientific staff to setup and execute on experiments to be performed within the User program of LCLS. The Visiting Physicist will gain expertise in high power laser systems (long pulse and short pulse systems) as well as critical knowledge to couple these systems with a hard X-ray Free Electron Laser for High Energy Density experiments. The Visiting Physicist will participate in the conceptual design phase of experiments in run 23 and support the local staff to setup, align and operate these experiments. Also, outside of MEC, The Visiting Physicist will collaborate on experiments within the LaserNetUS network, to be held at Colorado State University. The Visiting Physicist will test jet geometries within the framework of their Ph.D. program and will be able to use this data, in addition to their on-going simulation work, to publish scientific papers of relevance for their Ph.D. to be completed middle of 2025.
