Repair Specialist
Scope of job – Receive, separate and route pistols according to defect and category. Processing all warranty firearms, from receipt and repair to departure from factory.
Education and Experience:
High School/GED -- Associate's Degree preferred
Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment
Must have 3-5 years' experience in the Assembly area, with prior experience in firearms repair
Competencies and Skills:
Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (verbal instructions, written memos and instructions)
Basic computer skills required
Must have mechanical aptitude, skills and experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive and separate by defect and category all guns brought to the factory
Determine if the defect is a warranty related issue
Distribute guns to three areas: Warranty, Charge and Customer Service
Read customer letters to determine appropriate repair required - communicate with customers for clarification or permission requests
Repair or refinish all warranty firearms
Find or request the adequate components for the guns based on their age (in some cases the required component will have to be made)
Track and document all scrap warranty guns
Update computer and warranty records
Prepare show guns prior to departure from the factory
Inspect, fix and return to stock guns and show guns
Shoot and validate all warranty guns adhering to both WI 24-17 and QP04 standards
Must complete the appropriate course of instruction and testing to ensure safe firearm handling practices
Inspect and validate all laser work on frame replacement guns
Responsible for the serial numbers of all warranty guns
Most perform the serial number inventory and locate any missing guns in the factory, regardless of location
Responsible for all electronic serial number replacement documentation
Responsible for line repairs
Responsible for handling "special" requests from VIPs and fully satisfying demanding customers
Meet 7-day turnaround time
Will work in support of a product repair team, and may be required to perform other related duties as necessary
Travel to perform firearms inspection and/or repair in the field as needed

Physical Demands:
Works in a manufacturing environment
Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
Able to stand, sit, stoop, squat and walk

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:
Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.
The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:
- Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor
The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
