Siemens Digital Industries Software Cloud Operations – Site Reliability Engineer w/m in Lyon, France

Job Family: Research & Development

Req ID: 408333

Siemens Software, a business unit of the Siemens Digital Industries, is a leading global provider of software solutions to drive the digital transformation of industry, creating new opportunities for manufacturers to realize innovation.

About the role

Are you ready to take your cloud technologies skills to the next level? If you are enjoying understanding and finding the root of complex problems, and problem-solving oriented, then this role is yours!

As a Cloud Site Reliability Engineer, you will be cornerstone of our cloud solutions’ success on the market. In this role, critical thinking and documentation are essential. Not only you solve issues with your expertise, but you also are at the forefront of long-term best methodologies and processes:

• With the rest of your international team, you participate in 24/7 On-Call rotation, to deliver the highest service to our customers.

• You write Play Books for existing and new alerts based on the applicable dashboards and logs, and historical incidents. You generate weekly metrics reports summarizing Incidents and the Service Level Objective. You also organize regular GameDay events including defining the testing scenarios.

• Based on your Root Cause Analysis of incidents and their documentation, you reduce the probability of the incident reoccurring via recommendation. You suggest and implement ways to enhance traceability of issues from the client through to the back-end services, changes to alert thresholds to improve the observability, as well as enhancements to improve resiliency.

• Implement additional infrastructure in AWS to improve the observability of the application. This may include adding additional logs, metrics, alerts, and dashboards. Operate existing processes to apply security patches to deployed infrastructure.

Your qualifications

We would love to hear from you as a passionate engineer or bachelor-graduated in computer science/IT, with demonstrable experience in working in AWS environment, including server-less and event-based services as well as in software engineering including OOPS programming preferably in Python language.

• To succeed in this position, good communication, organizational and analytical skills are key. We are looking for someone able to communicate issues to their technical peers in a collaborative way, as well as running Team technical events. Ability to consider the wider context of an issue rather than always considering the short-term fix will be essential.

Critical-thinking abilities and technologies challenge orientation will go far toward contributing to your success.

• You join us with good understanding of resiliency and how it can be improved. You feel comfortable configuring AWS infrastructure using Cloud Formation and have knowledge of AWS CDK (Python) or ability to configure infrastructure using CDK. You should come with ability to trace issues through AWS deployed resources, including inspecting and querying logs, as well as tracing requests through tools such as Xray. Finally, you are familiar with code repositories (Git) and deployment pipelines.
