We are looking for an ambitious and experienced compliance professional to join the Amazon Payments Europe (APE) Compliance Office team to invent simple solutions to difficult regulatory issues.

The Compliance Manager is critical role within the APE Compliance Office team, responsible for providing Compliance subject matter expertise, advisory and oversight in relation to payment services regulations.

Job Title: Compliance Manager

Role Overview: The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring Amazon's operations and products adhere Payment Services Regulations and compliance requirements across the European Union and Luxembourg. This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and oversight to the business on managing compliance risks.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

Identify and assess applicable EU and Luxembourg Payment Services laws and regulations including PSD2.

Conduct gap analyses to determine areas of non-compliance and advise on required changes to Amazon's business practices.

Collaborate with Legal, Risk, and business stakeholders to develop and maintain compliance policies and control frameworks.

Compliance Advisory:

Provide accurate and timely second-line compliance advice to the business, in conjunction with stakeholders.

Assess compliance risks and determine compliance requirements within new and existing business propositions and product launches.

Guide the business on managing and mitigating identified risks through appropriate controls and mitigation strategies.

Subject Matter Expertise:

Act as the subject matter expert and point of contact for the business on key regulatory topics.

Lead projects within the Compliance organization and contribute to business projects related to compliance matters such as PSD2 and DORA.

Provide regulatory advisory and oversight on areas such as outsourcing, major incident management, regulated complaints handling, horizon scanning, and conflicts of interest.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting:

Monitor and report on compliance risks and issues, collaborating with internal risk management teams (Risk Management, InfoSec) to identify necessary mitigation steps.

Assist in the provision of regulatory reporting to the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), Banque Centrale du Luxembourg (BCL), and other regulators as required.

Training and Awareness:

Create and deliver training programs on compliance matters to the Compliance organization and the wider Amazon business.

Foster a culture of compliance and risk awareness across the organization.

Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of PSR, compliance frameworks, and best practices applicable to Amazon's operations in the EU and Luxembourg.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and propose effective mitigation strategies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Project management experience, with the ability to lead and contribute to compliance-related projects.

Proficiency in creating and delivering training programs on compliance topics.

Relevant professional certifications or qualifications in compliance, risk management, or related fields are preferred.

This role is critical in ensuring Amazon's operations and products meet regulatory requirements, mitigate compliance risks, and maintain a robust control framework.

A day in the life

The Compliance Manager will:

• Map newly-published regulations and perform a gap analysis against the existing control environment.

• Engage with business stakeholders to provide compliance advice in relation to an existing product.

• Write compliance requirements for new product implementation.

• Review and update Compliance policies to ensure they remain up to date with regulatory requirements, and communicate any changes to business stakeholders.

• Liaise with business stakeholders and data teams to compile data in relation to regulatory reports and ad hoc requests.

About the team

This role is a key part of the Amazon Payments Europe (APE) Compliance team, which is based in Luxembourg. The team is responsible for providing second line Compliance advisory and oversight in relation to the regulated financial services activities performed by Amazon in the EU.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent

  • Experience handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

  • Experience with SQL and Excel

  • Experience in program requirements definition, together with data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements
