    Position description

UCLA’s Department of Spanish & Portuguese seeks an Assistant Adjunct Professor in Catalan Studies with an emphasis on linguistic knowledge of Catalan and cultural understanding of the Catalan people. The course load for this position for this academic year will be three courses in Catalan language and culture and two additional courses in the Spanish language or related areas according to Departmental needs.

Requirements: At minimum candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand, native or near-native fluency in Spanish and a native-level knowledge of Catalan, evidence of excellence in teaching in the appropriate field, and strong research potential. The appointment will be effective July 1, 2024.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 1. The salary for this position is $74,600 - $78,700. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
