Preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation will be essential for this Staff Accountant role. This role's duties include internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. Your responsibilities in this role

• Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

• Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

• Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner

• Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

• Take part in various department-wide initiatives

• Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request

• Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on

• Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

• Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process

• Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

• In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

  • Adeptness in fixed assets

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Donations

  • Deep understanding of Yardi Software

  • Month end closings experience

  • Grant accounting experience desired

  • Bank reconciliations experience

  • Journal entries experience
