SIMCO Electronics Repair Technician in Los Angeles, California

Position Overview:

The Repair Technician A will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics and electronics to perform calibration and repair of test measurement and diagnostic equipment used in the Life Science, RF/Telecommunications, and Semiconductor/Electronic Components markets.

This position will normally receive general instructions on work assignments that are semi-routine in nature and where the ability to recognize and apply technical deviations from general troubleshooting and repair is required. The Repair Technician will identify and utilize appropriate manual and automated measurement procedures. The Repair Technician will perform laboratory and work area housekeeping.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Evaluate, test, troubleshoot, and repair systems to the component level of test measurement and diagnostic equipment.

  2. Enter repair and calibration data into SIMCO Main Computer System (SMCS) database.

  3. Prepare repair quotations and calibration reports and certificates related to assignments in a

    timely manner.

  4. Perform calibrations and repair in one or more of the following skill areas, as applicable:

    • Bio-Med instrumentation

    • Electronic standards

    • Fiber Optics

    • LCR and Impedance

    • Nuclear and Radiation Physics

    • Oscilloscopes

    • Particle Counters

    • Photo/Radiometric Optometry

    • ESD

    • RF/Microwave Power, Frequency, and Impedance

    • Sound Pressure Level

    • Spectrum and Network Analysis, Time Interval and Frequency

    • Vibration

    • Video

    • Voltage & Current

    • Waveform Analysis, Phase, and Distortion

  5. Receive and complete training on repair and calibration procedures, documentation, and SMCS.

  6. Assist in the training of other technicians on specialized skills.

  7. Regular interaction with other technicians, CSRs, Account Managers, management, and

    customers.

    Qualifications

  8. Minimum AA degree in Electrical Technologies, formal PMEL, or equivalent.

  9. Must be able to perform mathematical computations related to specification and

    measurement analysis.

  10. Minimum two years of electronic repair and calibration education and experience.

  11. Strong knowledge of electronic circuit theory and advanced soldering skills.

  12. Familiar with general calibration and repair laboratory workstations.

  13. Must have great interpersonal and customer service skills.

  14. Strong attention to details.

  15. Must possess good written, oral, and documentation skills.

  16. Must be a self-motivator, work as a team player, and follow written procedures.

  17. Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

    Physical Demands

    (Lifting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, etc. – be as specific as possible)

  18. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance.

  19. Occasional standing and bending are required.

    Working Environment

  20. Works primarily in a laboratory or manufacturing environment at a SIMCO location

    and/or customer sites. This position is located in Panorama City

  21. Travel may be required to other domestic and possibly international locations
