    Position description

The Department of Psychiatry and the Adult Division are recruiting two faculty members who have an interest in street psychiatry. These positions will work with the Homeless Health Collaborative (HHC), delivering care to individuals experiencing homelessness in unsheltered outreach and interim housing sites across LA County. The psychiatrists in these positions will work side-by-side with the HHC medicine team, which includes primary care physicians, emergency physicians, addiction physicians, social workers, nurses, community health workers, and other disciplines.

In collaboration with the HHC team, the psychiatrist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that offer to individuals experiencing homelessness high-quality evaluation, short-term treatment, and follow-up care for mental health concerns. The psychiatrist will also link HHC patients to needed community services and resources. HHC service will be 75% for one position (the lead) and the other, 50%. The details of the rest of the positions-25% and 50% respectively- will be discussed and determined depending on the candidate’s interests and the department’s need but may include clinical work, including seeing outpatients longitudinally and consultations, funded research and so forth. As with all psychiatrists within the Adult Division, these positions include attending in a teaching clinic and taking night call. Further details for these positions will be discussed individually.
