    Position description

A postdoctoral position is immediately available within Dr. Fayal Abderemane-Ali’s laboratory in in the Department of Physiology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

We are seeking a motivated individual interested in electrophysiology, biochemistry, structural biology, or pharmacology. Our lab focuses on 1) biophysical and structural studies of ion channel complexes, 2) development of ion channel modulators, and 3) investigations of auto-resistance mechanisms in poisonous animals.

We utilize a multidisciplinary approach including electrophysiology, biochemistry, structural biology, pharmacology, and high-throughput cell-based assays.

Qualifications

1) A recent doctorate degree in the field of biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or related disciplines

2) Ability to work in highly inclusive teams and strong work ethics

Responsibilities

1) In this role, the appointee will be actively involved in multiple projects, immerse themself at one of the world’s leading institutions for biomedical research, while learning skills in neuroscience, integrative physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, and pharmacology.

2) The appointee will also have the opportunity to strengthen their leadership and collaboration skills by interacting with graduate and undergraduate students, writing fellowship applications, and assisting with manuscript preparation.
