Senior Digital Transformation Manager

Personal Care is Unilever’s largest category with a 25 billion EURO turnover, including big brands such as Dove, Rexona, Axe, Lux, and Sunsilk.

Personal Care is investing heavily in digital communications in 2018. Unilever as an organisation has recognised that the digital infrastructure to enable optimal digital communications for its brands needs a higher focus.

To that end Personal Care will put in place a new digital transformation team to rapidly upgrade and move all brands to the forefront of industry digital communications, globally.

Led by the Digital Transformation Director, Unilever is looking for a Senior Digital Transformation Manager to aid the delivery of great digital communications via content, tech and innovation. The role will work closely with internal teams and external agencies across Personal Care (PC) brands. The role will be supported by a project management team and an Assistant Manager.


  • Ensure global delivery of digital communications strategy by brand, working with wider functions including media planning, data, e-comm, customer insight, IT teams etc. Consult and support individual brands and top markets to ensure plans laid and actioned

  • Ensure digital thinking core to the development of key global product launches/campaigns

  • Share digital best practices and effective work across PC with brands and markets through the creation of a global cross brand/ market digital team. Streamline activities to reduce wastage/ duplication. Drive good work fast and far across markets/ brands.

  • Initiate and roll out digital governance across brands and markets

  • Work with central teams to ensure technical digital infrastructure/ UX is suitable for PC needs. Liaise internally to ensure PC needs are met

  • Set digital targets by brand through external audits

  • Monitor and audit digital content /comms across digital channels ensuring best practices adhered to, including SEO. Where gaps exist – work with brand managers to optimise as required. Ensure good basics in place

  • Develop and design ecommerce and data test and learn plan across the category with top 3 markets. Understand current successes and drive wider role out.

  • Work with the consumer insight team to ensure digital consumer behaviour at heart of digital comms. Sharing category wide insights for PC behaviours and digital measurement is in place.

  • Work with media team to ensure digital media planning ( digital media and paid search) optimised within campaign and performance analysis shared with category

  • Develop an innovation plan across the category with start-ups through the Unilever Foundry and with partners (Google. FB etc.). Deliver repeatable models for brands

  • Manage digital training across brands and lead markets – create digital champion programme to lead digital excellence


  • Senior digital manager with experience of delivering digital content/ campaigns, as well as website and technical digital builds

  • Experience of working with digital agencies

  • Wider understanding of brand communications

  • Experience of managing teams

  • Experience of working with global markets preferred

  • Friendly, open, clear communicator

  • Can-do, will-do attitude

  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of productivity and motivation

  • Confident managing senior and a complex wide range of stakeholders

  • Able to influence at all levels

  • Self-starter, able to initiate and drive projects independently
