Programme Planner, London

The primary purpose of the programme planner role is supporting the Programme Manager to co-ordinate and organize the various elements of the Campaign to Cash (C2C) Programme. The role responsible for the planning of several projects, ensuring priorities, interdependencies and resources are managed effectively to deliver of agreed C2C programme outcomes.

The programme planner also builds and maintains strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders through clear & effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Work with project managers and delivery partners to proactively plan and optimises IT and business resources in line with agreed priorities so that a realistic delivery programme is established and maintained, taking into account resources, dependencies, and constraints.

  • Providing assurance that dependencies are being impact assessed and accepted by all affected areas – including those raised dependencies outside this Programme’s direct control.

  • Facilitate clear and timely communication among project team members and stakeholders, providing regular updates on status, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Supervise deployment scheduling across C2C projects and ensuring individual projects comply with the associated governance (e.g., CCRB and AVEVA IT CAB submissions).

  • Chair the weekly C2C Planning and Development Authority to provider assurance that C2C development and planning decisions are aligned to the programme objectives and roadmap.

  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager, project managers, business owners and IT Managers to manage scope and risk.

  • Monitor plan progress through regular reviews and maintaining close contact with all programme stakeholders.

  • Works downstream with the Project Managers and support teams to ensure engagement occurs at appropriate points throughout the lifecycle of the programmes in the release and that the effective handover to operational support is managed as projects deliver and close.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, schedules, status reports, and other relevant artifacts.

  • Co-ordinates the assessment of change request on the individual C2C project and wider programme plan.

  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers as needed to support project planning, delivery and vendor performance evaluation.

  • Supports the Programme Manager with

  • Management and application of required governance including milestone reporting, project status reporting and risk and issue management

  • Standardisation of ways of working. Overseeing standardising or planning processes and capability across C2C

  • Continuous improvement of planning capability across the C2C Programme.

  • Support with the continuous improvement of planning capability across the C2C Programme.

Experience Required

Education 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field; project management and/or general business management; or equivalent, related IT experience

  • Project management training and certification (PMP, Prince II etc.)

  • Programme management training and certification (PgMP, MSP etc.) is desirable.

Experience 

  • Successfully delivered complex IT projects across multiple teams and vendors

  • Proven experience of complex stakeholder management, managing lots of stakeholders with different views & personality types.

  • Leading & motivating diverse teams to achieve common goals.

  • Managing significant risks and issues.

Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Significant experience (+10 years) planning complex IT change projects with track record of delivery.

  • Detailed knowledge of programme & project management methodologies (for example, PMI, Prince II/MSP and Agile). 

  • Integrity – fosters an environment based on trust.

  • Knowledge of programme & project-planning tools. 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Expertise in setting and managing customer expectations.

  • Strategic thinking to facilitate prioritization.

  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role may not directly control resources. 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Blue chip experience (FTSE, Fortune, Global brands).

  • Lead to Cash / ERP experience

  • Experience of delivery working with System Integrators and specialist vendor

  • Azure DevOps knowledge
