Arapahoe County Government Motor Vehicle Systems Trainer in Littleton, Colorado

Description

The Motor Vehicle Systems Trainer assists with the training of new and existing Motor Vehicle Specialists within the Clerk and Recorder's office. This job provides excellent customer service, maintains a positive attitude and is an effective team player while performing a variety of complex duties associated with Arapahoe County's Motor Vehicle division and training program. While the Trainer reports directly to the Motor Vehicle Training Supervisor, they may also receive direction and supervision from the Motor Vehicle Deputy, Chief Deputy Clerk and Recorder and the County Clerk and Record Duties

  • Assists with developing and implementing a training plan, timeline, and procedures for training and developing motor vehicle staff.
  • Assists in creating, maintaining and presenting effective, multimedia training materials and job aids for trainees.
  • Assists in creating, delivering, and completing assessments and evaluations for trainees.
  • Independently provides assistance, guidance, and knowledge transfer to MV Specialist, MV Specialist II and MV Specialist III.
  • Provides classroom and counter training for motor vehicle staff at all levels in various systems used in the processing of their work, including queuing system.
  • Serves as a designated Arapahoe County Tester for motor vehicle transactions as designated by the State of Colorado.
  • Provides written and verbal feedback while testing processes to supervisor or other partners involved in testing role.
  • Attend calls and meetings with other County testers and collaborates with other County and State partners to review system changes for potential impacts or review potential fixes to system issues to verify solutions are viable.
  • Conducts research, identifies and resolves complex title/registration issues to improve system functionality and understanding among the motor vehicle staff.
  • Independently researches complex issues faced by motor vehicle staff to analyze, determine, and propose solutions to process or system issues.
  • May be asked to perform training related to the following departments: Marriage License/Civil Union Licenses, Election related duties, and special projects. Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret state statutes, regulations, and procedures applicable to the Motor Vehicle division.
  • Proficient in using and understanding the functions of the motor vehicle system software and related software, such as the queuing system.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to create learning documents using MS Word, PowerPoint, Google Slides, and other methods that make complex system processes simple to understand and learn for the trainees.
  • Ability to analyze and test motor vehicle system processes for consistency and viability in compliance with known state statutes, rules, and procedures.
  • Ability to research multiple sources for information, including internal and external partners.
  • Ability to memorize and effectively deliver information to a live training class, as well as a virtual/recorded training class.
  • Ability to audit the work of trainees and communicate errors in a way that promotes learning and understanding.
  • Handle cash with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to multi task in a high stress environment is essential.
  • Effective oral, verbal and written communications.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of personal computer equipment and software such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Flexible, punctual, reliable, and willing to work paid overtime is necessary.
  • Ability to engage with customers and coworkers in a professional, articulate and friendly manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, internal and external partners, the public, and supervisors.

Education and Experience: * HS diploma or GED. * Meets satisfactory performance standards as a Motor Vehicle Specialist III. * 1+ year(s) experience delivering trainings and complex information in front of a live audience within the past 5 years. * 1+ year(s) creating training materials including presentations, helpful guides, outlines, etc. * 1+ year(s) in a customer service role directly interacting with customers in-person. * Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered. Preferred Experience: * Cash handling experience. * Previous Motor Vehicle training experience. * Previous experience auditing processes and/or paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
