Volvo Group Commodity Buyer_ Global Commodity Hydraulics in Linyi, China

Job Summary:

The focus of this position is strategic purchasing, which combines high levels of purchasing process, technical knowledge and expertise with ownership of relevant commercial issues in an international environment. The position will work with external contacts worldwide, including both suppliers and the Volvo CE Global Purchasing Organization. The position will also work internally in close cooperation with other independent Volvo Business areas and other functions such as R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and Logistics.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities :

  • Develop and deploy commodity sourcing strategies for given sub commodities in line with global & regional ones

  • Drive the Volvo Purchasing processes for supplier evaluation, selection, and monitoring QDC performance for assigned commodities

  • Continuously improve the supply chain, manange 4 box and build relationships with key suppliers of assigned commodities

  • Secure strong cross-functional cooperation between the purchasing department and the various internal stakeholders

  • Manage multi year material pipeline projects for continious QDC improvement

  • Ownership in purchasing contracts

  • Support project leaders in reaching project targets (right first time) with its supplier base (Planning, target cost, technical proposals)

  • Conduct business review meeting to review the overall supplier performance

  • Work in accordance with the Volvo CE processes, the Volvo Way, and the Volvo values and behaviors.

Required K nowledge & E xperience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing, engineering, manufacturing or equivalent

  • Proven capabilities in negotiation and communication internally & externally

  • Cpabilities to manage own responsbile sub commodities

  • Have required technical skills to understand and support the combined P&SM and R&D strategy

  • Understanding of global sources of supply and purchasing procedures

  • Experience in applying problem solving techniques including root cause analysis

  • Familiarity with TQM, Lean and Six-Sigma management practices

  • Multi-cultural experience will be plus

  • Ability to work in a matrixes organization

  • International mind set

  • Fluent in English both in speaking and writing

  • Good presentation and communication skills

  • Good computer skills (Ms-office)

  • Creative attitude and energetic
