Job Title: Food Service Directors Administrative Assistant

Department: Food Services

Reports to: Director of Food Services

Classification: Classified / Non-Exempt

Summary

To keep records of lunch program efficiently and process daily cash flow and student revenue system as it relates to food services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Post previous days activities for each buildings food service department.
  2. Check bids on produce, dairy products, and groceries. Total all receipts.
  3. Perform cashier duties for breakfast and lunch lines.
    1. Quickly and accurately deal with cash and student revenue system.
    2. Count money, make change, operates a cash register and/or calculator.
  4. Verify each schools cash as they bring it in to director.
  5. Total all school lunch deposits and combine into one daily deposit. Deliver daily deposit to bank.
  6. Create, maintain, and deliver a monthly report to central office of all food service transactions.
  7. Create purchase orders for any non-food invoices pertaining to the food service department.
  8. Process invoices in accordance with Central Office Accounts Payable methods.
  9. Create, maintain, and deliver a monthly report to central office of Free and Reduced Lunches for each school.
  10. Communicate daily with students, parents, and staff as it relates to food services.
  11. Assist in kitchens daily when needed; preparing meals, serving meals, assisting cashier.
  12. Must follow food service regulations.
  13. Must attend required food service classes at the health department.
  14. Answer and route all incoming calls to food services office.
  15. Review with all cashiers the standard operating procedures.
  16. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bookkeeping experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Skills and Abilities

Language

Good communication skills; the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. The ability to read and write simple correspondence.

Computation

Money handling skills and the ability to count back change are required. Also the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and perform those operations using weight, volume, and distance units of measurement.

Technology

Proficientcomputer skills (Excel, Word, Google), the ability to use a calculator and cash register are required.

Additional Skills and Abilities

Must maintain a neat appearance and pleasant attitude with students, parents, and staff. Must maintain confidentiality regarding free, reduced, and full paying students.Must be able to multi-task in a loud and sometimes chaotic environment.

The individual is required to stand for prolonged periods; required to lift, move, or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, or sit. Must be able to speak and hear in high noise levels, such as from kitchen equipment and students at meal time. Will use close, distance, and p ripheral vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in temperatures that exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The work environment is frequently quite loud; employees may need to raise voices to be heard. There is a greater than average risk for minor burns and cuts. There is also a moderate risk of exposure to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.


Terms of Employment

12 months. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board

Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
