RESPONSIBILITIES
As Senior Manager Model & Data Automation within our global Digital Farming unit, you are responsible for the development and operation of digital solutions in the field of data acquisition and processing of drones and agricultural machinery as well as for the implementation and testing of agronomic models.
In your new position, you and your team of experts translate the business requirements of digital farming into IT requirements and concrete technical implementations with a focus on model development and content testing as well as data pipelines across the entire software development cycle.
You are globally responsible for the conception, design, development, testing, operation and refinement of the DF-IT solution architecture in model and data automation, the required components and their interfaces and relationships.
In addition, you drive the development of AI and GenAI in our area with use cases in Ag including Computer Vision.
Furthermore, you support the global DF strategy regarding the technical exchange infrastructure with external partners (APIs/contracts).
You are the administrative leader of a team of around 15 internal IT and engineering experts.
Last but not least, you support the overall digital farming and business development strategy as well as the digital architecture and development within BASF.
QUALIFICATIONS
university degree in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, natural sciences, engineering or related fields
several years of professional experience, ideally already experience as a team leader of a cross-functional team
expert knowledge in the implementation of business requirements for data-driven, customer-oriented IT solutions at a global company level, ideally in the field of agriculture and digital farming
expertise in scalable microservices-based, web and mobile IT architectures as well as in data pipelines and modern AI frameworks
initial work experience and insights into concepts of generative AI would be an advantage
very good communication skills in English, knowledge of German is an advantage
