Summary This position is located at the Kyle Health Center in Kyle, South Dakota. The purpose of this position is the operation of the health center's telephone communication system controls, serves as receptionist and assists with clerical duties. The incumbent will report to the Nurse (House Supervisor) or designee. Responsibilities Answer incoming calls, determine the nature of the call and route the caller to the appropriate department or individual. Receive and relay incoming, outgoing and interoffice messages for staff members. Operate the public address system using prescribed clinic emergency and special codes to page and alert staff members. Receive and sort daily outgoing and incoming mail. File correspondence, reports, and other relative materials. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-04: One (1) year of general experience or Two (2) years of education above high school NOTE: Equivalent combination of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable. General Experience Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
