Indian Health Service Mental Health Specialist in Kyle, South Dakota

Summary This position is under the direct supervision of the clinic Mental Health Coordinator. The incumbent will provide evidenced-based psychotherapy to a variety of acute and chronic mental health problems. Recruitment Incentive - New Federal Employees Relocation Incentive - Current Relocating Federal Employees Responsibilities Provide clinical mental health services to outpatient individuals, couples, family, children, adolescents, and adults. Assess patients to determine diagnosis, treatment, intervention, or referral care. Utilize evidenced-based methods and standards acquired by professional licensure responsibility, mental health and national associations standards used by counselors and mental health specialists/therapists. Utilize automated data system to develop patient treatment plans, document progress, initiate referrals request, and construct monthly statistical and narrative reports. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Selective Placement Factor (SPF)In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the Selective Placement Factor (SPF) for the Mental Health Specialist position. Professional knowledge of mental health counseling/therapy services as evidenced by possession of licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) - Mental Health (MH) or equivalent licensure or certification to provide independent behavioral health services. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) Degree in behavior or social science; or related discipline appropriate to the advertised position. combination of education and experience with knowledge of one or more behavioral orsocial equivalent to a major in the field of the advertised position. four (4) of appropriate experience that demonstrates the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or sciences equivalent to a major in the field of the advertised position. In addition to the Selective Placement Factor (SPF) and Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR), you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Examples Include: provide mental health intake process, conduct patient assessment to determine treatment plan, use of Center of Medicine Behavioral Health standards for prevention and treatment services to reduce disparities and improve patient mental health, navigate billable standards for Medicaid or equivalent health coverage, coordinate patient plans in consultation to applicable professional and medical staff for patient referral or transfer. OR Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree related to the advertised position. OR Combination of professional experience and graduate education related to the advertised position with 27 semesters hours of appropriate graduate education. GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Examples Include: perform evidenced-based psychotherapy through variety of acute and chronic mental health problems, case planning that includes diagnosis, recommend treatment, documentation of patent encounters, create statistical and narrative reports, initiate referrals for evaluation and/or medication prescription. OR Three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the advertised position. You must meet all qualification requirements within three (3) months of the initial apply date. Education This position has an education requirement.
