Job Description

Do you want to shape the future of data and AI in Danfoss Climate Solutions? Then you might be our new Data Scientist!

You will become a part of an international company and join the Digital Toolsteam. The team has a proven track record of developing and maintaining two significant mobile applications, Ref Tools and Installer App, which are tailored for cooling and heating installers. These applications have garnered more than 350,000 active HVAC installers globally each month (over 1M unique yearly), demonstrating their widespread success and acceptance. Beyond these applications, our efforts have extended to creating a variety of product selection tools. These range from straightforward selectors to sophisticated, application-specific solutions.

Recently, we have started working on various AI and ML projects, that range from internal LLMs, computer vision and sales forecasting with the aim to solve some of the main pain points that we have, so this role is going to be critical in the success of those projects.

Job Responsibilities

As our new Data Scientist, you will be working on data engineering and ensuring correct and relevant data is available but also responsible for developing advanced machine learning solutions that solve business challenges and provide actionable insights. You will be part of end-to-end projects with digital leads, developers, architects, and product owners to ensure high quality analysis and ML/AI solutions. To succeed, there is a need for a general curiosity towards data to understand what value it can bring in different domains as e.g., chatbots, analytics, product selection, etc. – as well as spotting the synergies throughout the company. Your tasks will vary from project to project, and could for instance cover the following:

  • Design, develop and implement models, proof-of-concepts, and solutions.

  • Design and improve LLMs, vector stores and graph databases.

  • Utilize machine learning, statistical techniques, and advanced analytics to generate forecasts, predictive classification, recommendation models etc.

  • Build next generation analytics and capabilities, supported by relevant data, infrastructure, and tools.

  • Work with data scientists, developers, product owners and other stakeholders from the business to succeed in our common projects.

  • Analyze existing solutions to suggest and implement improvements.

  • Ensure relevant and consistent integrations between different systems and solutions.

  • Work with our developers and architects to connect data sources (internally as well as externally) and generate value from the data using analytics.

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand use cases and map their ML/AI requirements.

At Danfoss, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace fosters creativity, innovation, and a broader perspective in decision-making. When you consider this job posting, do you feel like your profile is not a perfect match? Numerous studies have found that women and people of color are more likely to apply only when they meet all requirements listed in the job posting. Even if you do not check all the boxes, we encourage you to apply anyway. We are curious to find out how you can bring new insights to the role or to Danfoss as an organization.

Background & Skills

To be considered for this position, you need to have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and you have an excellent understanding of AI/ML and statistics, as well as hands-on experience with developing, testing and deploying solutions. Furthermore, you have:

  • Minimum a year hands-on experience on data science tools and frameworks

  • Expert in data languages e.g., Python and development frameworks, including notebooks.

  • Experience with advanced methodologies and solutions e.g., for forecasting and LLMs

  • Experience with MLOps as a concept, and practical implementation.

  • Knowledge of data storage technologies.

  • Knowledge of architectural design and principles.

  • Overview of tools and service offerings from different vendors, e.g., Azure, Google Cloud, Databricks and Matlab.

As a person, you are openminded, curious, and you have a willingness to learn and develop. You can deal with complexity and find compromises between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests in a global environment across cultures. You have strong stakeholder management skills, a proactive attitude, and self-driven approach that make you a great contributor to any team. Finally, you communicate clearly and effectively making sure you create an impact – either directly or indirectly through others.
