Air National Guard PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) in Knoxville, Tennessee

GS-09 The primary purpose of this position is to serve in a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of Prevention Specialist (Prev WF), GS-0101-11. GS-11 The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the implementer of the Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP) Program. Responsibilities GS-09/11 Serve as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; provides program coordination and serves as the subject matter expert for the Wing (WG) IPP program Supports inter- and intra-personal violence prevention efforts and programming through the WG and NGB leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups Serves as the WG liaison for local military and civilian agencies to promote timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish resource links and community partnerships Responsible for developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns within WG Recruits, trains, and facilitates military volunteers for prevention activity implementation Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, 0101 Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: (GS-09) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes 1) Knowledge of Primary Prevention efforts and social-ecological systems theory. 2) Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in program planning. 3) Skill in applying professional community organization abilities related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of prevention programs, and the marketing of programs. 4) Excellent skills in oral and wrriten communication to include report writing and maintaining proper records to document services provided. 5) Knowledge of and skill in planning, conducting and evaluating Primary Prevention training programs. 6) Knowledge of the regulations, policies, and precedents that are used for developing action plans to implement approved prevention strategies. 7) Ability to plan and adequately support the needs of National Guard members by determining what the future needs of the Service Member are through the interpredation and analysis of studies, and trends. 8) Knowledge of policies and requirements for the development and analysis of the Prevention Programs efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures. 9) Knowledge of and skill in applying the methods and techniques of fact finding, analysis, and resolution of complex problems and the development of concrete action plans to resolve problems. 10) Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree with study disciplines in behavioral or social sciences which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a major directly related to the position of Violence Prevention Integrator. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
