Job Description

Works under the direction of, and in collaboration with, the Corp. Dir. Facilities. Manages the activities and staff responsible for the maintenance, repair and renovation, and efficient operation of the Mechanical (Energy Center), Electrical, and Plumbing systems for all campus facilities. Works collaboratively with Corp. Director of Facilities to plan, control, organize, and monitor all campus MEP operations ensuring preventive maintenance (PM) and routine repair activities are completed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and UH policies, and are consistent with UH’s corporate mission statement, sound management principles, CMS and TJC standards of accreditation, and State and Federal regulatory agencies. Coordinates repair, construction and renovation projects related to the MEP functions collaborating with the Design and Construction Department to ensure that goals and objectives of the projects are accomplished within defined timeframe and budget parameters. Plan and schedule real property equipment repair, maintenance, and upgrade projects. Monitor contract service employees and the overall progress of contract repair and replacement activities. Ensures MEP functions are in compliance with the hospital's goals and objectives, building safety requirements and standards of other regulatory agencies. Ensures work order labor and materials used are properly documented in TMS.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) or related discipline or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.

  • Five years experience in technical engineering and management or large-scale building or plant management, maintenance and repair.

  • Familiar with MEP trade positions.

  • Thorough knowledge of modern methods and materials of building and equipment maintenance and all building codes.

  • Ability to apply sound physical plan principles and practices to specific problems and situations.

  • If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to direct work and prepare reports.

  • Good computer applications skills and ability to work with maintenance management (TMS), Purchasing Management, and CAD software.

Experience in a health care setting.
