PAY RANGE:
Engineer I: $64,100 - $80,100 - $96,100
Engineer II: $78,200 - $97,800 - $117,400
Staff Engineer: $87,400 - $109,300 - $131,200
Sr Engineer: $88,500 - $118,000 - $147,500
Lead Engineer: $104,200 - $138,900 - $173,600
Principal Engineer: $108,700 - $144,900 - $181,100
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Engineer I
Assists in the development of studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, and budgets. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers because of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities under an experienced engineer. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
Engineer II & Staff Engineer
Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers because of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities under an experienced engineer. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
Senior Engineer & Lead Engineer
Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers because of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects. Frequently operates independently and seeks guidance when appropriate. Generally, is looked to be a team lead. Operates independently with minimal instruction from supervisor.
Principal
Develops and/or leads teams in studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment or facilities. Operates independently and seeks guidance when appropriate. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university (ABET). Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and design theory required. Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
Engineer 1 – recent graduate
Engineer II - 2 or more years of engineering experience
Staff Engineer - 4 or more years of engineering experience
Senior Engineer - Typically possesses 8 or more years of engineering experience and an active member of a recognized industry committee or published in recognized technical journals or at minimum has two related career experiences or clearly demonstrated team leadership abilities on critical projects.
Lead Engineer - Typically possesses 12 or more years of specialized engineering experience. Must be able to provide direction to internal and external support personnel with limited A/E firm support. Must be an active member of a recognized industry committee or published in recognized technical journals or at minimum has two related career experiences or clearly demonstrated team leadership abilities on critical projects.
Principal - Typically possesses 15 or more years of engineering experience. Advanced technical degree preferred. Professional Engineering license required or 18 years of specialized engineering experience. Proven ability to mentor and the knowledge and ability to handle significant or complex problems.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
Engineer I
Provide technical assistance in support of automation team functions
Apply technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction
Serve as a technical representative of the Company as assigned by keeping abreast of the latest developments and techniques pertaining to engineering, technology, and operating functions in the assigned field
Achieve successful completion of assigned projects within economic and time constraints by acting as a support engineer
Understanding of coding techniques using languages such as python and VBA.
Familiarity with the applications power systems and its function on the electrical grid.
Must understand basic computer operation.
Ability to analyze and interpret common engineering systems.
Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
Basic understanding of SCADA control systems.
Engineer II
Provide technical assistance in support of senior engineers
Apply technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction
Serve as qualified technical representative of the Company as assigned by keeping abreast of the latest developments and techniques pertaining to engineering, technology, and operating functions in the assigned field
Achieve successful completion of assigned projects within economic and time constraints by acting as lead engineer
Understanding of applied coding techniques using languages such as python and VBA.
Familiarity with the applications of data concentrators for protocols such as DNP3, OPC, etc…
Must understand basic computer operation and TCP/IP communications.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex engineering systems
Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
Basic understanding of SCADA control systems.
Staff Engineer
Provide technical assistance in support of senior engineers
Influence project decisions having a small impact on the company
Apply technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction
Serve as qualified technical representative of the Company as assigned by keeping abreast of the latest developments and techniques pertaining to engineering, technology, and operating functions in the assigned field
Achieve successful completion of assigned projects within economic and time constraints by acting as lead engineer
Fluent utilization of applied coding techniques using languages such as python and VBA.
Installation experience with the applications of data concentrators for protocols such as DNP3, OPC, etc… within isolated networks.
Must understand computer operation and TCP/IP communications.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex engineering systems
Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
Knowledge and understanding of SCADA control systems.
Senior Engineer
Influence project decisions having a moderate impact on the company
Apply technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction
Application of engineering principles to a broad range of requirements
Ability to analyze and interpret complex engineering systems
Advanced utilization of applied coding techniques using languages such as python and VBA.
Experience creating automation schemes.
Experience in the application and use case for data historians and associated database architectures.
Must understand computer operation and TCP/IP communications.
Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
Ability to influence decisions affecting modifications or additions to system
Knowledge and understanding of SCADA control systems.
Lead Engineer
Influence and make project decisions having a moderate to major impact on the company
Apply technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction
Application of specialized engineering principles to a broad range of requirements
Ability to analyze and interpret complex engineering systems
Advanced utilization of applied coding techniques using languages such as python and VBA.
Recognized expert in creating automation schemes.
Experience in the application and use case for data historians and associated database architectures.
Maintains a higher level of understanding around computer operation and TCP/IP communications.
Proven history of applying specialized knowledge to problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
Experience with SCADA control systems or advanced applications.
Principal Engineer
Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise.
Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise
Understanding of cyber security principles in an operational technology environment.
Advanced utilization of applied coding techniques using languages such as python and VBA.
Experience in the application and use case for data historians and associated database architectures.
Must understand computer operation and TCP/IP communications.
Expansive experience in creating automation schemes.
Proven ability to train others successfully.
Experience with SCADA control systems or advanced applications.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: PE License required for Principal.
Working Conditions: Most work is performed in an office with field work as necessary to perform the job. Travel to other locations within the company is required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
