Mars, Incorporated Conformance Technician - Day Shift - R98078 in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Description:

The Conformance Technician is responsible and accountable for supporting The Nutro Company's Nutro's Quality and Food Safety principles through:

  • Monitoring and inspecting process and packaging processes according to QandFS policies and procedures, and QMP standards.
  • Manage the testing requirements for the positive release programs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

This role reports to the Shift Manager and is a member of the production team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to personal safety practices that meet OSHA and Mars standards to assure a safe environment for associates and others. Maintain open communication with the site safety committee and site safety manager as appropriate for the role.
  • Complete analytical testing and evaluation of the finished product as required by QandFS policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and inspecting processes according to QandFS policies and procedures, and QMP standards. This includes, but are not limited to:
    • Processing
    • Packaging
    • Sanitation and Microbial Control
    • Quality of Testing Protocols
    • Record Control
    • Positive Release Programs
  • Maintain continuous communication with site functional teams to assure complete awareness of the manufacturing process in compliance with QandFS and performance objectives.
  • Participate in the development, revision, and training of mission-critical competencies as related to the responsibilities and accountabilities of the position.
  • Demonstrate a quality culture in actions, words, and spirit.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

Key Technical Knowledge and Functional Skills:

  • General safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of local, federal, and industry regulations with regards to:
    • Food Safety (GMP, HACCP)
    • Food Quality (Product and Process)
  • QandFS testing practices and procedures and QMP policies.

Education and Professional:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One year pet food and/or food manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision as well as within a team setting
  • Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sufficient mobility, strength, flexibility, hearing, and sight to access all job-relevant areas and perform routine activities as necessary to deliver required results.
  • Some pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, and lifting (up to 40 lbs.) are necessary.
