Farmers Union Insurance Summer Camp Counselor in Jamestown, North Dakota

North Dakota Farmers Union is hiring summer staff counselors for their camps located in North Dakota.

The Summer Staff Counselor is responsible for providing a friendly, enthusiastic and fun campingexperience for youth. Summer staff counselor is required to serve as a responsible adult supervising the youth attending ND Farmers Union camp, and will implement the youth curriculum and projects.

Supervision: The Summer Staff Counselor will be under indirect supervision of the Education Director but will directly reportto the Engagement Supervisor/Camp Director or Education Specialist on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities: Provide group supervision of campers with attention to all of the following: program, health, happiness, discipline,cleanliness, safety, routine duties, character and skill development Encourage campers to plan, carry out and evaluate projects and activities Foster camper participation in ALL activities Assist campers with housekeeping chores Teach or assist with camp programs and encourage camper participation Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, table etiquette and relationships with other staff that serve as abeneficial model to campers Work with the staff director and other summer staff to resolve difficulties with facilities, programs and campers Keep all equipment clean and in good working condition, properly stored and used only for the intended purposes Establish good relations with all youth members, staff and vendors associated with Camp and promote the FarmersUnion Camp whenever appropriate Ensure security, integrity and confidentiality of data and information Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Possess effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Ability to meet deadlines and provide weekly updates Ability to work as a team member with other summer staff Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction tocampers and summer staff Mental ability to observe camper behavior; assess appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations andemergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid by assisting campers in an emergency (fire,evacuation, illness, or injury)

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent One year out of high school is preferred Required to obtain CPR and First Aid certification Lifeguard certification is optional and compensated Participation in staff training, including Leadership Training Camp is required and compensated

Working Conditions: Occasional travel Strict seasonal schedule; day, evening and weekend work Housing and meals included onsite at camp locations during camp
